Abstract

Pregnant women can get some problems with the oral cavity, it is caused by hormonal changes or low awareness with oral and dental health. The gingiva will look redder and bleed easily when brushing teeth. Based on the results of the first research by interviewing pregnant women at saluyu 1, Rawalele Vilage at Dawuan District. There were 8 pregnant women who had gingivitis during pregnancy. Purpose: To determine the relationship between dental and oral hygiene and gingivitis on pregnant women at Saluyu Posyandu Subang District. Research methods: This study is descriptive research with cross sectional design. The number of samples in the study was 25 respondents who were taken by total sampling method. The analysis used is the Spearman correlation test. Result: There is a relationship between dental and oral hygiene and gingivitis on pregnant women at Saluyu Posyandu Subang. Based on the results of the Spearman correlation test with a value of p=0,02 (r=0,455) it means that there is a relationship between dental and oral hygiene factors with pregnancy gingivitis and the correlation value is 0,455 with moderate criteria. Conclusion: OHI-S exams and Gingival Index in terms to increase dental health for preventive gingivitis severity of pregnant women at Saluyu Posyandu, Subang.
